A Warm Welcome For All

At Corpus we welcome applications from students from any geographical area and any educational and social background.

As part of our commitment to widening participation at Cambridge, we work with state schools and colleges across the UK. Our Admissions Tutor, Dr Michael Sutherland, and Outreach Coordinator, James, visit schools throughout out the country across the whole academic year.

A word from James, our Outreach Coordinator

I have worked in the education sector for over 10 years, most recently as an Oxbridge Academic Tutor at a maintained school. As Outreach Coordinator, I want to ensure that we place schools and teachers at the heart of our access and outreach strategy. As such, I'm always keen to develop existing relationships between schools and Corpus, as well as forge new links with institutions that have had little to no contact with any Cambridge college.

James Davies-Warner in Ireland

I can deliver a a range of workshops and presentations which are focused on how to navigate the Oxbridge admissions process and how to make a competitive application. In addition, I am responsible for organising our stand alone widening-participation initiatives such as the Pelican Programmes (super-curricular study groups in the Arts & Humanities), the Corpus Junior Research Prize, and CLASS (the Corpus Link Area Summer School), which are tailored to help develop academic skills and interests that are the backbone of any student's application to Cambridge.

The Corpus Admissions Team is looking to move beyond the simple provision of 'information and guidance' sessions (IAG) about Cambridge, and instead move towards a more nuanced and targeted approach to find those students who would benefit most from our support when it comes to applying to Cambridge, and then, crucially, develop programmes that can help them reach their true academic potential.

The University of Cambridge Area Links Scheme

Under this scheme, the official link areas for Corpus Christi College are Northern Ireland, the City of London and the London Borough of Islington. We also share the link areas of West Berkshire and Wokingham with Trinity College. If your school or college is in any of these areas (or even if it’s not) and you’d like to hear more about the activities and events we offer, please contact James (contact details below).

I first came to Corpus because of an access event I attended here when I was in Year 9, my school was invited to Corpus to get a feel for Cambridge and university life. I had my heart finally set on Corpus once I attended an open day in Year 12 and got a detailed look at what medicine here was actually going to be like. The central location and the intimacy of the College community is great for meeting people and getting to grips with a daunting environment. The buildings are beautiful and the people are fantastically friendly.
