Stipendiary Early-Career Research Fellowship 2025

Corpus Christi College invites applications for one Stipendiary Early-Career Research Fellowship tenable for four years from 1 October 2025. Eligible applicants are expected to be at an early stage of their career (and may not yet have completed their doctoral work). If postdoctoral, this is defined as being within two years from the date of a successful viva voce examination at the time of application. This year applications will be considered in the following subjects: English; Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic; Theology; Music.

An Early-Career Research Fellow is expected to pursue learning and research in their chosen field and publish the results. The College’s academic environment provides favourable conditions for research, which will be undertaken freely and without oversight on the part of the College.

Early-Career Research Fellows are permitted to teach up to six hours per week for additional remuneration, and are expected to participate in the intellectual life of Leckhampton (the College's second site where most of its postgraduates are housed).

Full details are available in the Further Particulars for the post.

Application deadline: noon on Wednesday 8 January 2025.

Applications should be submitted to the CASC Fellowship Application System (FAS) at the following link: https://app.casc.cam.ac.uk/fas_live/ccearly/

The Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Early-Career Research Fellowship at the University of Chicago

In 2008, the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation established an early-career postdoctoral Fellowship to enable recent PhDs in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (excluding Law) from Corpus Christi College to spend up to three years at the University of Chicago. The Fellowship recognises early-career scholars of exceptional promise and provides time and resources in support of their research efforts and professional development. The Fellowship may be used purely for research, or the Fellow may choose to teach one course per year as part of a mentored teaching experience. The Fellow will be assigned a Faculty mentor to help integrate into campus culture and is expected to take part in University of Chicago activities, such as seminars, workshops and research groups. Information about the University of Chicago can be found at www.uchicago.edu.

Fellowship Terms

The annual Fellowship begins in fall 2025, is renewable twice for a total Fellowship of three years and includes:

  • Annual salary of $61,500 plus benefits (including health insurance)

  • Annual travel allowance of $4,000 (including coverage of family members)

  • Moving allowance up to a maximum of $4,000 at beginning and end of fellowship term

  • Support for computer purchase
