Hong Kong Link Early-Career Research Fellowship/College Lectureship in Modern British History (1750 to the Present) or American History

Following a generous benefaction from alumni and friends in Hong Kong, the College seeks to appoint an Early-Career Research Fellow/College Lecturer in History from September 2026 for a fixed term of four years. Applications are invited from outstanding researchers in the field of modern British history (1750 to the present) or American history. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will be a scholar in the early stages of their career for whom a short-term post would be an attractive opportunity to enhance their research and academic profile. They will be elected a Fellow of the College, and will carry the title of Hong Kong Link Early-Career Research Fellow and College Lecturer in History.

The appointment will be for a fixed term of up to four years, that is from 1 September 2026 to 31 July 2030. A pensionable stipend will be determined from the University General Stipend and salary scales. The stipend for the post is based on point 44 of the University salary spine (£41,064pa as of 1 August 2025). The appointee will also enjoy all the privileges of a College Fellowship, for example seven meals per week at High Table. An annual allowance for research expenses is available, and other privileges include free medical insurance (a taxable benefit) and a modest entertainment allowance. The College also has a small stock of (fully furnished) flats for Fellows that are available to rent at a discount.

An Early-Career Research Fellow is expected to pursue learning and research in their chosen field and publish the results. The College’s academic environment provides favourable conditions for research, which will be undertaken freely and without oversight on the part of the College.

As a College Lecturer, the teaching requirement will be up to six hours per week during Full Term, normally comprised of small-group supervisions for the undergraduates of Corpus Christi College or, by exchange arrangements, of other Colleges.

Applicants can find more detail in the Further Particulars.

Applications should be submitted to the CASC Fellowship Application System (FAS) at the following link https://app.casc.cam.ac.uk/fas_live/hkl/ by noon on Monday 23 February 2026.

For further informal information please contact the Senior Tutor, Dr Marina Frasca-Spada, by email on mfs10@cam.ac.uk.

Non-Stipendiary Early-Career Research Fellowship 2026

Corpus Christi College invites applications for one Non-Stipendiary Early-Career Research Fellowship tenable for up to three years from 1 October 2026. These Fellowships are principally for early-career researchers, and not (for example) for those on a second or senior postdoctoral award. “Early career” is defined as being within four years from the date of a successful viva voce examination at the time of application (that is on 30 April 2026).

Candidates must have a minimum of two years external funding support for their salary for the term of their Fellowship. This includes, but is not restricted to, research appointments from the Royal Society, the British Academy, the various Research Councils of the United Kingdom or the European Union (for example, Marie Curie, Human Frontiers), the Wellcome Trust or the Leverhulme Trust. Competitive internal funding, such as the Herchel Smith and Oppenheimer Research Fellowships, is also included.

Applicants must, at the time of their appointment, and for the duration of their appointment, be working at the University of Cambridge (or an associated research institution) in a post-doctoral research role. Early-Career Research Fellows are normally expected to be resident in Cambridge for the term of their Fellowship.

An Early-Career Research Fellow is expected to pursue learning and research in their chosen field and publish the results. The College’s academic environment provides favourable conditions for research, which will be undertaken freely and without oversight on the part of the College.

Early-Career Research Fellows are permitted to teach up to six hours per week for additional remuneration, and are expected to participate in the intellectual life of Leckhampton (the College's second site where most of its postgraduates are housed).

Full details are available in the Further Particulars for the post.

Application deadline: noon on Thursday 30 April 2026.

Applications should be submitted to the CASC Fellowship Application System (FAS) at the following link: https://app.casc.cam.ac.uk/fas_live/ccnsecrf/

Informal enquiries should be addressed to Dr Daria Frank (Secretary to the Research Fellowship Competition) by email to research-fellowships@corpus.cam.ac.uk with the subject line “Non-Stipendiary ECRF 2026”.
