Location, Services and Transport
City centre. It is a 5–10 minute walk to the Downing Site and New Museums Site. 10–15 minutes to Sidgwick Site, via a busy road, and University Library. Leckhampton, the postgraduate site, is located on Grange Road approximately one mile from the city centre.
Traffic
Trumpington Street is busy with vehicles and bicycles. Quieter access to the College via Free School Lane.

Parking
Very limited. Some disabled parking bays in Trumpington Street. Parking is possible, but limited, for graduates housed in Leckhampton.
General Information
320 undergraduates and 200 postgraduates. All genders. Main site in city centre has student accommodation on site or nearby. Leckhampton, off Grange Road, is the main postgraduate site, but offers undergraduate accommodation as well. An access audit has been completed.
Smoking
Smoke-free policy in place. All College sites, rooms and hostels are no-smoking except for the designated smoking areas on the main College site and at Leckhampton.
Medical facilities
The College has a Nurse in term time.
Emergency procedures
Evacuation needs are taken into account when choosing student rooms. Practice fire drills are obligatory, and individual needs may be discussed.
Accommodation & Catering
Wheelchair-accessible rooms
Two accessible flats, one on the main College site and one located on Bene’t Street. Two wheelchair-accessible bedrooms are available in the Kho Building on the Leckhampton site.
Other rooms
If you have access needs the College is happy to discuss these with you to see how they can be best met.
Live-in assistants and assistance dogs
Both assistants and assistance dogs have been accommodated in the past. Please discuss your needs in advance.
Early induction and vacation stays
Early induction is possible. It is possible to stay in your room during vacations, at usual room rates. Postgraduate leases are for 12 months rather than termly.
Catering arrangements
Meals usually taken in Hall. Kitchens and gyp rooms are generally small and not suitable for full self-catering, except in and near adapted rooms. Postgraduate accommodation offers facilities for self-catering. Limited range of meals available in Leckhampton.
Special diets
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten and dairy free meals are readily available. Nut policy in place. Please discuss any special diets with the Catering Manager who is flexible to meet all needs where practically possible.
Physical Access
College grounds in general
Four large steps, with no handrail, up to main entrance. Level access via Stable Yard side entrance or via Fellows’ Garden off Free School Lane is possible by arrangement. Fairly smooth paving slabs, with some cobbles.
College Buildings in General
Most buildings in New Court have steps due to the age of building. Lift access to Dining Hall available. Temporary metal ramps are available. Leckhampton House, dining room, and ground floor toilet are accessible.
Bar
Bar in Kwee Court accessible via lift. The bar at Leckhampton is accessible.
Cafeteria
Large flight of stairs, with handrail. Accessible via large service lift from B Passage. Please arrange with Porters’ Lodge in advance. Meals eaten in hall.
Chapel
Two small steps off New Court. Temporary ramp available. Large entrance doors can be rather stiff. Fixed pews.
College offices
Two steps up from New Court. Temporary ramp available. Tutorial office is up a flight of stairs, but other ground floor rooms can be used for tutorial sessions.
Common rooms
JCR accessible from Old Court.
Dining Hall
As per cafeteria — large service lift from B Passageway. Catering department will arrange appropriate seating for wheelchairs. Leckhampton dining hall on ground floor.
Fellows' areas
Old common room and New common rooms for Fellows are upstairs, with no easy access.
Gardens
Level access to Fellows’ Garden from Free School Lane and B passage on main site. Quiet, grassed area with two bench seats.
Laundry
Located in the Beldam Building, Botolph Court, Newnham House and in Stable Yard. A few doors to negotiate. The laundry at Leckhampton is located opposite the main house.
Libraries
The Taylor Library (main student study Library) has level access from Kwee Court. To find out more click here.
In the Parker Library (manuscript and special collections library) the Butler Reading Room is two steps up from New Court and may be accessed via a temporary ramp by arrangement.
The Wilkins Room is up a flight of stairs with 22 steps.
Porters' Lodge and post room
Two large steps up to the Lodge from New Court, with no handrail. Porters will come outside to help. Mail room level accessed via permanent stone ramp.
Sport facilities
Gym located at Leckhampton on the ground floor. Sports field located at Leckhampton with several steps up to the changing rooms in the Pavilion.
Toilets
Disabled toilet in C passage from New Court, in Bar lobby, in McCrum lecture theatre at bottom of Beldam building, and in Leckhampton House.
Other
- McCrum lecture theatre, located behind the Eagle pub on Bene't Street. Access via cobbled yard. Ground floor, with wheelchair lift to auditorium. Stage and one section of seating are accessible. Disabled toilet.
- Small reference library at Leckhampton, accessible with some assistance.

Large print, Braille and audio
No large print or Braille currently.
Signs and wayfinding
There is some signage around College site. Site is not large, so wayfinding is generally not a problem.
Other
Steps in the public areas of the College are marked, but few handrails. A few worn and twisty staircases. Stairs unmarked.

Induction loops
Induction loops in Porters' Lodge, McCrum Theatre, I4, Harley Mason Room and Law Room.
Alarms
Portable visual and sensory alarms available.
