Emilija Leinarte is a University Assistant Professor in European Union Law and a Fellow of the Centre for European Legal Studies and the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law. After completing her doctoral degree at Cambridge (Trinity College, 2019), she was a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow working on the topic of liability in the digital space. Leinarte’s book Functional Responsibility of International Organizations: The European Union and International Economic Law (CUP 2021) provides a novel approach to the allocation of international responsibility in a non-state multilayered structure. Prior to coming to Cambridge, she completed LLM studies at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law as a Fulbright grantee. Emilija is an Editor-in-Chief of the Cambridge Yearbook of European Legal Studies and she was a Co-Director of the Centre for European Legal Studies in 2022-23. She is also an Access Officer of the Faculty of Law. Dr Leinarte is teaching a European Union law tripos paper and is a convenor of the Digital Law paper for graduate students. Since 2012 Emilija is a member of the New York Bar.
