North-East Teacher Conference, Thursday 11 July 2024
The Corpus Christi College Admissions Team are pleased to invite you to our 2024 North-East Teacher Conference at Harton Academy in South Shields. The aim of the conference is to offer those teachers and advisors with little experience of Oxbridge applications an understanding of how the process works, while also supporting more experienced practitioners with recent changes and navigating some of the challenges of the process.
The free conference will run from 9.30am-3.15pm, with CPD sessions throughout the day, alongside opportunities for teachers and advisors to connect with one another. Session hosts will include Michael Nicholson, Director of Recruitment, Admissions and Participation at the University, the Corpus Admissions Team, and University academics, offering valuable insights into maximising the chances of admission success. Cambridge student ambassadors will also be on hand to detail what it's like to study at Cambridge.
The day will include sessions and split sessions on:
- The University of Cambridge explained, including how student data is used
- Avoiding early pitfalls: advice for younger students
- Engaging with super-curricular activity/Why aren't my students getting into Oxbridge?
- Creating competitive personal statements/Writing helpful UCAS references
- STEM/Arts & Humanities admissions assessments & interviews (with recent changes explained)
- Q&A with Cambridge staff and student ambassadors
A buffet lunch and refreshments will be provided.
