The Margaret Andrew Bursary
We are delighted to announce that Corpus will be able to award the Margaret Andrew Bursary in October 2025, thanks to the generosity of 47 donors, rounded off by a generous intervention by two alumni keen to see the completion of the bursary. It will provide financial support to a female undergraduate student from a disadvantaged or underrepresented background.
2024 marks 675 years since Margaret Andrew, knowing her death from plague was approaching, bequeathed her land in Chesterton to the new Gild of the Corpus Christi. This was the first of many benefactions, supplemented by several hundred others, that collectively ‘crowdfunded’ the foundation of the College in 1352.
Crowdfunding for an undergraduate bursary
The Margaret Andrew Bursary appeal was launched during the 40th anniversary year of the admission of women undergraduates. The Bursary will be awarded to a female student in need of financial support, with a value of up to £3,500 a year in perpetuity. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported this appeal so far.
