Dean of Chapel

Applications are invited from graduates who are ordained priests of the Church of England (or of a Church in full communion with it) for the post of Chaplain or Dean of Chapel. The new incumbent will start as early as possible after 1 October 2017, the starting date to be agreed with the successful candidate.

The Chaplain or Dean of Chapel is responsible for religious worship and instruction in the College, for the administration and organisation of the life of the Chapel, and for leading its services, both regular and occasional.  They are expected to be pastorally available to all members of the College community (Students, Fellows, and Staff), regardless of faith, and the College seeks a candidate with a demonstrated record of excellence in pastoral ministry.  The College has a strong choral tradition and the Chaplain or Dean of Chapel is expected to help maintain and encourage this.

The Chaplain or Dean of Chapel will be elected to a Fellowship of the College and membership of the Governing Body.  They will have the opportunity of pursuing academic interests and may undertake some teaching.  The stipend will be based on the current Ely Diocesan Incumbents’ rate.  Accommodation and office space is provided.

Head of Housekeeping

Corpus Christi College is seeing to appoint an experienced, self-motivated and competent professional to run the Housekeeping Department.

The ideal applicant will be A level educated (or equivalent) with NVQ Level 3 in Housekeeping and a recognised management qualification.  As well as previous management experience of a large team, this person must have excellent organisational skills and experiences of modern business practices.  Proven experience of handling a department budget is also required. 

The ability to communicate effectively at all levels is fundamental as there will be regular liaising with Fellows, students, staff, guests and various suppliers/contractors.  Applicants must be confident and flexible with an ability to motivate their staff, plan workloads and multi-task.  There will be occasional requirements for weekend work too so flexibility is essential.

Applicants must be computer literate with good working knowledge of MS Office, especially Word, Outlook and Excel.  Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations, COSHH and ANUK requirements are also required.

The role is varied and demanding with certain physical requirements.  There will be significant climbing of stairs and walking between both college sites.

Kitchen Porters

Corpus Christi College has an opportunity for two full-time Kitchen Porters (37.5 hours per week) to provide a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the College kitchens.

The purpose of these roles is to ensure the overall cleanliness of the kitchen and surrounding areas and to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and safety. Duties will include the thorough cleaning of kitchen pots, pans and cooking utensils. Loading the dishwasher with crockery and cutlery items, overseeing the operation of the machine and unloading and stacking items away. Clearing trolleys loaded with dirty plates, ensuring the cleanliness and tidiness of all food stores and fridges as well as all the waste bins. Emptying the waste food bins and disposal of all waste including kitchen rubbish, cardboard, waste paper and bottles.

We are seeking applicants who are reliable, team players with an adaptable manner and a willingness to undertake training and looking to learn and develop within the role. Ideally applicants will have a good understanding of current Food Safety and relevant Health and Safety legislation.   This role is vital in helping us deliver customer satisfaction whether it is the day-to-day collegiate catering or our high-end catering at College functions and our conference business.

Working hours are on a shift basis for 5 out of 7 days. Previous relevant experience would be highly desirable as would be the ability to start immediately.

Part-time Bedmaker

Corpus Christi College has a vacancy for a permanent part-time Bedmaker/Cleaner working Monday to Friday from 8am to 1pm (25 hours a week) at their post-graduate site on Grange Road. Main duties involve cleaning of rooms, offices, toilets and staircases. Applicants must have experience in a hotel, college or similar environment and will be able to demonstrate excellent cleaning skills including knowledge of chemical handling. A vocational qualification is also desirable.

You will be reporting to the Head Housekeeper and will be part of a team of 23 staff, 8 of whom will be working at the post-graduate site. You will be working on your own and within your team to provide a first-class cleaning service for the College.

Applicants must have the ability to work on their own, be conscientious, hardworking and reliable. There will a certain amount of climbing of staircases and carrying bulky items.  Please do not apply if you do not have the experience required as set out in the job description.

Chef de Partie

Electrician

Corpus Christi College has an opportunity for an Electrician to join their Maintenance team. Duties will include undertaking of electrical maintenance work: installing, repairing and servicing building electrical plant. You will also be expected to carry out minor electrical installations and projects.

For this position you will need to have a recognised trade apprenticeship or a City & Guilds for your trade, as well as a proven work history in this field. You should have good organisational skills, be able to prioritise your workload and carry out work without close supervision. You will also be required to work as part of a small team and assist in other maintenance work as necessary.
