Pelican Poets' and Writers' Society: The Musicality of Homer's Iliad

06/05/2025 - 19:15 - 06/05/2025 - 22:00

Pelican Poets' and Writers' Society: The Musicality of Homer's Iliad - a reading and discussion of an episode in Book Two
Tuesday 6 May, 7.15pm - 10.00pm
The Parker Room, Corpus Christi College

The session will be led by Corpus alumnus Mark Willington, who has spent the past nine years working on a translation of the Iliad, unique among English translations in its use of the hexameter form in which it was originally composed.

All are welcome! The Society - formed in 2008 - is open to all members of the Corpus community: students, postgraduates, Fellows and Life Fellows, Alumni and guests. There is no formal membership, and no expertise is required, just a spirit of enquiry, and pleasure in good discussion.

Further details will be sent before each event. All enquiries to Elizabeth Stephan at saintjohns@hotmail.com
