The Lewis Society of Medicine Annual Lecture and Dinner
Booking for this event is now open.
All members of the Lewis Society of Medicine, past and present, are warmly invited to this year's Archibald Clark-Kennedy Lecture and Annual Dinner at Corpus Christi College on Saturday 8th February 2025.
We are delighted that Corpus alumnus Professor Alistair Chesser (m.1984), Chief Medical Officer at Barts Health NHS Trust, will giving this year's Archibald Clark-Kennedy Lecture.
Professor Chesser was one of the first supervisees of preclinical director of studies and College President, Professor Christopher Howe. He then trained in London and Aberdeen before being appointed Consultant Nephrologist at Barts Health in 2003. He has published numerous papers on the epidemiology of chronic kidney disease, particularly its association with comorbidities like diabetes and hypertension, for which he has been cited nearly 400 times. In 2016 he became chief medical officer at Barts Health NHS Trust, a position he will hold until March 2025. Under his lead, the trust's Care Quality Commission (CQC) ratings have improved in all areas. He also led clinical teams through the COVID-19 pandemic, rapidly expanding capacity and saving thousands of lives through innovative clinical care.
