Four Corpus undergraduates will be spending the first three weeks of their summer break exploring China on an academic and cultural immersion programme.

The Yinghua China Summer Fellowship is a three-week programme bringing together outstanding undergraduate students from the United Kingdom and China.

A total of 51 students, comprising 26 students from Cambridge, together with participants from Oxford, Tsinghua, Fudan, and several other leading institutions, will take part. The students have a jam-packed itinerary with visits to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hangzhou scheduled.

The Cambridge students are drawn from Corpus Christi, St John's, Jesus, Lucy Cavendish, and Trinity Hall.

The UK-China educational exchange programme offers participants first-hand exposure to contemporary China through a carefully structured combination of academic learning, field visits, and cross-cultural collaboration across multiple major cities.

Seyi Adeyemo - 4th year, Finalist (Manufacturing Engineering)
“Having specialised in Manufacturing Engineering, I look forward to visiting Hangzhou, where the focus on intelligent manufacturing will allow me to explore how advances in artificial intelligence are shaping industrial robotics. Additionally, I am excited to experience some of China’s most iconic cultural landmarks, including the Great Wall in Beijing and a night cruise along Guangzhou’s Pearl River.”

“Attacking real world problems doesn't typically begin with answering big questions right away but rather making hands-on progress. I'm excited to learn the approaches each company takes in answering these questions and collaborating with others who also feel they can make a difference working together. I'll consider the fun activities to be a signing bonus.

Li Tao Tan - 1st year (Law)
“I am looking forward to experiencing parts of China that most visitors never see and developing a more nuanced understanding of a country that is often discussed but not always well understood. I have always been fascinated by how different societies are shaped by their history, institutions, and culture, and China provides a particularly interesting case because of the scale and speed of its transformation. I am excited to learn from fellow participants, visit different cities, and come away with a deeper understanding of contemporary China—a dragon soaring in the 21st century.”
