Parker's Gift
Happy 15-year digi-versary to all our readers!
It is hard to believe, but it was already 15 years ago that Parker Library On the Web launched. It was built and launched in collaboration with Stanford University Libraries to provide worldwide access to the medieval and early modern manuscripts held at The Parker Library at Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge. With one major, and multiple minor updates and tweaks, the platform is still going strong.
To mark the occasion, we are excited to announce that our latest acquisition, a gift tag in nine roundels, given by Archbishop Matthew Parker to Queen Elizabeth I and purchased by the College in 2022, is now available online, in its full digital glory. You can find the digitised manuscript as CCCC MS 645 on Parker Library On the Web.
We hope you will enjoy the intricate details and take a moment to marvel the extraordinary gift of Matthew Parker and its journey from him, via Queen Elizabeth I and others, eventually to the Corpus Christi College, and now, from us to all of you.
