Corpus Christi College, Cambridge announces appointment of Mr Richard Leather as new Bursar
The College is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Richard Leather as its next Bursar.
Richard joins the College from The Møller Institute, where he has been Director and CEO since April 2020. At the Møller, he has worked with a Board and executive team to restructure completely and re-energise the business, returning it to a position of strong financial health during a time of significant disruption and uncertainty.
Before this, he served as a senior commercial diplomat and was posted as Australia’s Consul General in Frankfurt, Germany from 2016-19. During this time, he also served as Australia’s chief trade and investment representative to the EU where he engaged extensively with major European companies across the health, corporate finance and infrastructure sectors.
From 2012-16 he held a similar role as Australia’s chief trade and investment commissioner to the USA and Canada where he worked with leading corporations and investors in the infrastructure, energy, bioscience and high-growth information technology sectors.
Prior to taking up these diplomatic postings, he enjoyed an extensive career in consulting and financial services where he was an executive director and member of the Board of Directors at Gresham Partners Capital, and prior to this, head of investor relations and external affairs for the Gresham Partners Group in Sydney, Australia.
The College is looking forward to Richard bringing this wealth of experience to the office of the Bursar, an ancient position in the College, responsible for all the financial and other non-educational aspects of the College’s operations. Richard will take up the post on 1 February 2025.
The Master of Corpus, Professor Christopher Kelly, commented, “We are delighted to welcome Richard to the College. He was selected following an exhaustive search. Five candidates were selected for final interviews following visits to the College and meetings with key Fellows and staff, and Richard was the unanimous choice of both the appointments committee and Executive Body.”
Richard added, “I am honoured to accept the appointment as Bursar and look forward to contributing to the continued success and stability of the College.”
Corpus was assisted in making this appointment by Minerva Search Consultants.
