Corpus Boat Club rowing well in the run-up to Getting-On
The Lent Bumps 2026 will take place from Tuesday 3 March to Saturday 7 March 2026. The Getting-On Race will take place this Friday 27 February 2026. Ahead of the first big bumps of the year, we caught up with social media officer for the Corpus Christi Cambridge Boat Club, Carla Briggs.
Here's a look at Pembroke Regatta from Saturday!
M1, W1 and W2 took to the river to take on their Lent Bumps competition, and while our 1st boats had pretty exciting and tough races, it's W2 who stole the show. Corpus W2 took on Robinson W2, Magdalene W3 and Jesus W4 to win their division! Taking revenge for previous W2 crews, we're so incredibly proud of them!
We also have a M1 race report from Men's captain Owen:
"After a productive recent few outings the men showed up in high spirits ready to take on Christs M1. After a strong paddle down the boys span and lined up to start, unfortunately, we started after them and got gapped pretty quickly. We fought hard and kept overlap with them for most of the course, making aggressive moves on them to try to catch up, it was not enough and after railway bridge they gained clear water where we fell apart. Whilst on paper it was a loss it was still a strong performance and readies us for a big bumps campaign."
Next, we have Newnham head!
Corpus fielded an M1, M2, W2 and W3, with W1 subbing into every crew (so does this count as all 5 crews out?) 🔥 The first race for most crews this term, and spirits were high as they all got to practise the bumps course. We have an overview of the W3 race from LBC Emma:
"Our brilliant Cox Mark absolutely smashed his first race of 2026, with brilliant calls, a motivational force as intense as the crazy cross-tail wind, somehow he managed to maintain a fabulous line.
Although there were significant delays and some fun marshalling chaos, W3 were totally focused during the race, following the brilliant rhythm of Freya in stroke, they calmly avoided and dealt with crabs, the nightmare that is grassy corner and then the unforgiving wind on the reach. It was a stellar performance and the whole crew should be proud of themselves.
Honourable mentions to our fab W1 rowers, Sylvie, Yasmin and Emma for subbing in and helping to make the race happen!"
And W2 from LBC Georgina:
"W2 put in a strong performance keeping consistent throughout the race, and despite some very chaotic marshalling Ben (our cox) managed to steer a killer line. With the Getting On race coming up soon, it is sure to be an exciting bumps season! Special thanks to our wonderful captain Fovie for subbing in!"
