Cambridge Alumni Festival

The annual Cambridge Alumni Festival takes place Friday 26 to Sunday 28 September and Corpus is well-represented!

Tours of Curious Cures: Medicine in the Medieval World lead by Dr James Freeman (m.2003) are taking place over the weekend. James is a specialist in medieval manuscripts and curated this very popular exhibition, which contains some material from the Parker Library.

The Rev Professor Andrew Davison (m.2000), alumnus and former Fellow and Dean of Chapel, will appear with Professor Julian Allwood (m.1984) on Friday evening to discuss Engineering, theology and climate change. Andrew is the Regius Professor of Divinity at Oxford University and Julian is a Professor of Engineering and the Environment at Cambridge. the two have collaborated on a book, In a Safe Climate, In Good Faith (forthcoming from Cambridge University Press).

Saturday evening at 18.00 Catherine Galloway (m.1997) will be hosting The Alumni Festival Debate: This House believes that public opinion has no place in science. Caroline is the translation and innovation lead for the Kavli Centre for Ethics, Science and the Public. The Kavli Centre was launched in December 2021, and is a unique collaboration between the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge, and Wellcome Connecting Science funded by The Kavli Foundation. You can read an interview with Caroline about the Centre and her role as head of the 'Department of Crazy Ideas'. Tim Lewens (m.1992) will sit on the panel. He is Professor of History and Philosophy of Science at Cambridge.

Professor Sir David Clary (m.1974) will speak about his bookThe Lost Scientists of World War II, in which he tells the stories of scientists forced to leave Germany and other European countries in the 1930s.
