Checking of formal dress/surrender of university cardsWednesday 27th June at 5.30pm in Old Court (Chapel if wet)Please come dressed exactly as you intend to be for the graduation ceremony. The Praelector and Tutorial staff will check that your dress is correct and help you to adjust your gown and hood so that they stay in place. Please bring a few safety pins with you if possible. Please also bring your University card, as these must be surrendered (sob!). You'll get a ticket for the graduation dinner in exchange for your uni card. Graduation PhotographWednesday 27th June at 6.00pm in Old Court (Chapel if wet)Once your dress has been passed as correct, you will assemble in alphabetical order in Old Court (or the chapel if it's raining) for the group photo. This will be available for purchase from the Porters' Lodge on the afternoon of graduation day. Graduation DinnerWednesday 27th June - drinks at 7.00pm in Old Court (OCR/NCR if wet)Dress for the dinner is as for a normal formal hall. Dinner begins at 7.30pm and is preceded by a drinks reception. At the end of the meal itself, before leaving Hall, the legendary Horn will be passed round and all will drink from it. After dinner drinks will follow on Old Court lawn (OCR/NCR if wet). Exhibition of Manuscripts and SilverThursday28th June 10.30am - 12.30pm, and 2.00pm to 5.30pmAn exhibition of manuscripts will be held in the Parker Library, with plenty to interest you and your guests. Also on show will be the oldest and most interesting of the college silver. Individual PhotographsThursday 28th June from 11.30amThose who have pre-booked individual photos will receive a timetable before the day, others can turn up and wait. The photographer will be in Old Court if it's nice weather, or the Bacon Room if it's wet. Garden PartyThursday 28th June 3.00pm - 4.15pmYou will already have pre-booked your tickets for this via CamSIS when you applied to graduate. It will take place in the Master's Garden if it's a dry day. If it's wet, then tea will be served in Hall and the Bar/JCR. Please take your guests to visit the Master's Lodge at some point during the party. You can come dressed ready for the graduation cerremony, or return to your room later to change. Collection of Senate House ticketsThursday 28th June 3.00pm - 3.45pmIt is also essential that you report to the gazebo in New Court (if dry) or the hallway of the Master's Lodge (if wet) to pick up your guests' tickets for the Senate House. They will not be able to get in to watch you graduate without these. In order to avoid a queue building up, please try to arrive as follows: Graduands' surnames A-H at 3.00pm, I-O at 3.15pm and P-Z at 3.30pm Graduation ServiceThursday 28th June 4.15pm - 4.55pmYou and your families and friends are warmly invited to the Graduation Service in the College Chapel. This is a candle-lit service during which the choir will sing and the Master will give an address. The service will last about 40 minutes and will be over in plenty of time for the graduation rehearsal which begins at 5.10pm. The Graduation CeremonyThursday 28th JunePlease ensure that you are in Old Court, fully dressed for the ceremony, at 5.10pm. The Praelector will address you, and will then conduct a short rehearsal. Your guests are welcome to watch the first part of this, but will need to leave College in time to make their way to the Senate House before the doors close to guests at 5.45pm. After the rehearsal, it will be time to line up for the procession to the Senate House. The Head Porter will lead the way, resplendent in morning suit and top hat, and wielding his knobstick. You follow behind, along with any Fellows who wish to attend. Look up into the balcony when you arrive, to see other familiar faces from your days at Corpus. There are more details of how the actual ceremony works in 'Ceremony'. AfterwardsAfter the ceremony, you are free to do as you wish. Some people will have booked a restaurant meal for their family party, others prefer just to come back to college for a last evening, some will pack up their belongings and go straight home. |
