TEACHER FELLOWSHIPS 2012 – 2013
Teachers currently working in the Maintained sector are invited to apply for a ten-week or five-week Fellowship, to be taken in one of the University’s three terms in the academic year 2012-2013.
The main purpose of these Fellowships is to enable the holder to pursue her or his intellectual or professional interests in an academic environment and/or to follow recent developments in education. It is envisaged that the Fellow will devote the term or half term of residence either to academic research or to a project which will benefit their teaching. There will also be opportunities for the Fellow to gather information about Cambridge and its admissions procedures, in order to encourage and advise potential applicants for undergraduate places at Cambridge. In this respect, we hope that the Fellowship encourages contact and dialogue between Corpus Christi College and the holder’s school or college.
Benefits of the Fellowship include free accommodation and meals. Attendance at University lectures will be possible (although, in the Easter Term, lectures are only given for the first four weeks, before examinations start), and the University and College Libraries will be available. Please note that the College is unable to provide any funds for replacement teaching costs. Successful candidates will be expected to obtain leave or secondment from the School Governing Body or from the Local Authority. Applicants should consult their LA or Governing Body with regard to financial support.
Applications will be considered from graduates who hold permanent full-time teaching posts in the United Kingdom in Maintained sector schools or colleges. Applicants must be engaged in the education for university entry of the 16 to 18 age range. They should normally have a minimum of three years’ secondary education or Further Education experience.
For an informal discussion about this opportunity, please contact the Admissions Co-ordinator, Janet Rogers on 01223 338056 or email@example.com, who will be pleased to advise you.
The closing date for applications is Friday 4th November 2011. Interviews for shortlisted candidates will be held at Corpus Christi College on Saturday 19th November 2011. Overnight accommodation will be available on the Friday evening for interview candidates who are travelling any distance.
