Accommodation

Leckhampton House, a fine Victorian residence which provides a home for two Fellows and five research students, is connected to the dining hall. Nearby is the George Thomson Building or GTB (named after a previous Master) accommodating thirty-two graduate students.

A number of large private houses on the Leckhampton site at Cranmer Road and Selwyn Gardens provide more single rooms, as well as flats for research student couples and families.

Further accommodation is provided in Barton Road, some five minutes cycle-ride from Leckhampton.

In July 2011 one of the Cranmer Road houses will be demolished and work will start on a new graduate building to be completed in the summer of 2012.

Accommodation costs at Leckhampton range from £780 to £1400 a quarter (academic year 1010/11). The average rent is £1050 a quarter. In addition to rent a utilities charge of £9 per week (academic year 2010/11) is charged.

Details of this charge are as follows Graduate Utilities charge.  Other accommodation related charges may apply dependent on student personal usage ie personal electric consumption is charged on a metered basis at cost.

The College normally accommodates all of its graduate students coming from outside Cambridge for the duration of their University courses, up to a maximum of three years. Leckhampton remains open for residence throughout the year although residents of the United Kingdom and other nearby European countries often spend some of their vacations at home.
