A History Of Corpus Christi College, 1822-1952 By Patrick Bury
A History Of Corpus Christi College From 1952-1994 A Contribution by A Geoffrey Woodhead
Patrick Bury's account of the College's history from the time of the building of the New Court to the celebration of its Sexcentenary has been out of print for many years. In response to the requests of many Old Members who regretted that they had not been able to acquire a copy, it has now been reprinted. It provides in Part I a narrative of the 130 years with which it deals, Mastership by Mastership; and in Part II there are biographies of the Fellows of that period, as well as details of College office-holders, a list of those admitted to Corpus, and many other matters of background interest.
In continuing the contents and intention of that Part II for a further forty-two years, A.Geoffrey Woodhead has so presented his material that a history of the College's development from 1952 to the present day emerges from it - even though a narrative account must, and should, await a longer perspective. Old Members will recognise from it the College and Fellows they knew in their student days, and will appreciate their own place in Corpus' long history, as well as the College's adaptation to the demands and circumstances of the second half of the twentieth century.
