Karol Sikora, Visiting Professor of Cancer Medicine at Imperial College School of Medicine, Hammersmith Hospital, is a leading voice in the international field of oncology.

He read medicine at Corpus Christi, Cambridge, and after obtaining his PhD, spent a year as a clinical fellow at Stanford University, California before returning to direct the Ludwig Institute in Cambridge. Among his many achievements was the establishment a major cancer research laboratory at Hammersmith funded by the Imperial Cancer Research Fund. He has been Chief of the WHO Cancer Programme to which he remains an adviser. Professor Sikora is the author of over 300 papers and many books.including the standard British postgraduate text Treatment of Cancer which comes out in its fourth edition this summer.
