The MCR is a focal point for official social events at Leckhampton, but most importantly provides a common area for postgrads to frequent after a tough day in the trenches to meet and interact with their fellow Corpuscles. As Leckhampton is comprised of such a diverse community of individuals you never know what interesting conversations you'll have or where these meetings might lead.
What's that? You popped your head in and there was no-one there? No, please don't retreat back into your room, someone's probably just missed the last train back from a busy day trying to conquer the world. Even super-villains can be late you know, so just sit down and relax, they'll be along shortly. If you leave too soon, you'll probably miss their interesting story about their attempt to conquer the world, narf.
But what to do in the meantime? Well the MCR subscribes to a bunch of prominent newspapers and magazines, so you can sit down, get comfortable, and do your daily reading. Then there is always the TV room and Wii. Some students find the bar a relaxing environment to do some of the monotonous work they've been stuck with that night. As a plus, the welcome distraction of conversing with other students can make that number crunching you have to do a bit less tedious.
Leckhampton has its very own bar! It is located in the MCR and is open on Mon-Fri 6.45-9.00. Being a bar it serves its usual publican duties well, dispensing drinks and meals to needy students. The bar makes an ideal atmosphere in which to relax and meet other like-minded postgraduates.
Leckhampton enjoys subscriptions to many popular newspapers and periodicals including The Independent, The Times, The Guardian, The Economist, New Scientist, and Time Magazine.
There are a host of board games available for use that are stored in the cupboard in the Hales Room next door. In addition, the bar also has a dartboard and a bar billiards table.
Leckhampton House is fortunate enough to have wireless access! Just bring a compatible laptop, and away you go.
Just bring along your ipod and have a go - its on the bar! Or tune in to the radio...
If you're stuck in college then feel free to make use of the Bachelor's Parlour (opposite the postroom). It has a desk and two sofas (one comfy!) and is quite simply a fantastic place to temporarily store your gown post-matriculation. There's also MCR privilege of tea/coffee/hot chocolate facilities when the bar is closed at 50p a pop (on a system similar to the beer-fridge).
