Location: Leckhampton Dinning Hall
Sign-up for Leckhampton's biggest wine tasting to date. All are warmly welcome!
Theme: How to get the best from your £10 in Cambridge
Tickets cost £10 and are available to all members of the MCR and their guests. Numbers are only limited by how many we can squeeze into our hall.
The theme of the tasting is value for money - not cheap wine, but good wine at a good price. Wines will vary in price and the idea is to offer everyone the opportunity to find out where the best value for money can be found in Cambridge. If you've ever been disappointed by that £10 bottle from Sainsbury's, and want to do a little better next time, then this is the event for you. Wines from France, Spain, Germany, England (yes its true), America, Australia, New Zealand and my personal favourite South Africa will all be presented, tasted and discussed. The focus will be on fun first, education second and wine snobbery a cruel last! If you like wine I assure you you'll enjoy this event!
Sign ups will close on Monday the 27th to give me a chance to round up the wines. Sign up now!

As part of ‘refreshers week 2012’ Lechampton will be hosting a Pot Luck dinner to showcase the many cuisines of our wonderfully diverse MCR student body. Not just for international students but open to all MCR members, the 21st Jan will give everyone the opportunity to showcase something tasty from their home. Bring a dish, a dessert or a drink from your home country and enjoy something from someone else’s.
Because this is a self catered MCR function, the kitchen has reminded me to say that those cooking/eating must bring along their own glasses, cutlery and crockery. I will ensure that we have a few paper plates and plastic forks available for anyone who forgets, but lets keep it green and save all the fishies.

The Hall, Old House
The first Postgraduate Super Hall of the academic year will take place on Thursday, 12 January at 7.30 pm. For those of you who aren't in the know, each vacation, when all the undergraduates are away from College, the MCR has a very grand dinner in the main Hall of the Old House. As with past Super Halls, we will be treated to a four-course meal of very good food. We have 120 places to fill, so everyone is encouraged to bring guests (friends, family, labmates, etc.), to show off our fabulous College. Tickets do, however, sell out quickly, so make sure you sign up right away.
The evening will start with drinks in the Pelican Bar (ordinary bar service, not included with the cost of the meal), before dinner is served at 7.30 pm. Following dinner, there will be a cash bar (University cards not accepted) in the Old Combination Room, where a whole host of postpradial delights will be on offer. The dress code for the dinner is as with ordinary Formal Hall: jackets and tie, or equivalent; note also that all University members are expected to wear gowns.
