Research Fellowship

Applications are invited for one non-stipendiary Research Fellowship, tenable for up to three years from 1 October 2017. Applications are welcome in any subject. Candidates must have external funding support for their salary for the term of their Fellowship, which will be for up to three years. This includes, but is not restricted to, research appointments from the Royal Society, the British Academy, the various Research Councils of the United Kingdom, the Wellcome Trust or the Leverhulme Trust.

The Research Fellowship is open to graduates of any university who on 1 October 2017 will have completed not more than five years of research (includes research years within doctoral degree).

The main function of the Non-Stipendiary Fellowships is to offer researchers who have already secured external funding at the University of Cambridge the chance to participate in College life and enjoy the benefits of a College Fellowship. Research Fellows will be full members of the College’s Governing Body.

The external salary can be supplemented by undertaking teaching within the College. The additional remuneration obtained in this way would depend on the amount of teaching undertaken. Non-stipendiary Research Fellows have access to a limited stock of College flats and sets.  If available, they are provided at a subsidised rent.

Applicants should complete the online application at:

Two documents will be uploaded: a CV, and a statement of not more than 1,000 words outlining the applicant’s present and proposed research. The details of two referees familiar with the applicant’s work should be given. The application must be completed by 5.00pm on Thursday 25 May 2017 and by this date the referees should upload their reference letters.

Short-listed candidates must be available for interview during the week beginning Monday 26 June 2017.
