Support for Clinical Medicine Students

If you are going on an elective this year or if you are planning an education-based activity in the long vacation, please note the following three bursaries are available for medical students in addition to general College elective bursaries:

The Stephen Hales Bursary is to encourage student members of Corpus (postgraduate and undergraduate) to take an interest in and learn about disease prevention in its widest context. The Lawrence Weaver Travel Bursary is intended to encourage any medical students to take an interest in the developing world, and can be used to help those choosing to spend their elective period of study in a medical centre in the developing world. The Gordon Medical Bursary is to support clinical medical students who require financial support for their fifth-year elective placement.

If your elective or other trip is not suitable for any of these named bursaries, please still put a submission in; there are other bursaries available. In particular the College will usually provide some support to anyone embarking on their year 5 elective.

You only have to put in a single submission to cover all available bursaries, but please note the closing date of 5.00pm Friday 15 March 2024 if you want to bid for any of these named bursaries. Please make it clear in your covering email which bursary, or bursaries, you are applying for.

Although students are encouraged to apply for more than one College bursary if their intended elective fits the relevant bursary criteria, only one (the highest value) bursary would be awarded to an individual student, although the Gordon Medical Bursary may be given to recipients of other awards if their elective is ambitious.
