Dining Hall

Hall

The Hall, situated on the first floor originally, dates from 1825 to 1826 and is part of the New Court, the architect was Wiliam Wilkins, a Fellow of Caius.  William Wilkins work includes part of Downing College, the Hall and screen of King's although he though New Court was his best work and so he is buired in the Chapel in Corpus.

The Hall is 19th century and New Gothic in style. It is one of the few dining halls in Cambridge that can seat most of the College's members at one sitting. The Hall is partially wood panelled with portraits of former Masters lining the walls.

The upper walls are decorated in William Morris print out of plates rediscovered in the 1960s and printed especially for Corpus Christi. This print can also be found in the House of Commons. The stained-glass windows, chandeliers and candle-lit tables create an atmospheric dining experience in a tradition dating back 650 years.

The Hall can seat a maximum of 120 in the main well of the Hall and a further 24 on the High Table.  During term, the Hall is restricted in it's availability as it is used daily by our students, Fellows and staff, during the student holidays, the Hall is available for lunches, dinners and canape & drinks receptions.
